Drinking a lot of water, at least 1.5-2 liters a day, can help reduce the risk of constipation. It is recommended to avoid using laxatives routinely as well as to sit in a proper position during bowel moving activity. Fiber intake of at least 20-35 grams per day can help solve constipation problem. For those suffering from constipation, fruits and vegetables which contain water soluble fiber are better than grains which contain non-water soluble fiber.
